Fear of the Unknown (Death)
Everything is numb to me and I am numb to all.
A tight fist grips my heart, takes my arms and legs and pins them in place. I want to scream. To voice the injustice that I see as my end. As death. But I cannot for the fear, like a noose, has tightened around my throat.
If there are any who can talk through this all mighty power than they are the bravest. Or braver than I for I cannot bring myself to do more than think of the abyss that is the Unknown. The lurking shadow that is death.
I quake, but I am motionless.
I regret everything I have done in life. Although I have lived a grand and epic life.
All I can do is cry as I laugh at the fac

“We must save those whom we can,” she turns away, outlined by the fire of a distant caravan burning. “So that we can level it out against those we must watch burn.”

With Team SHDE reunited I feel as though I should be relieved, especially seeing as I've been assigned a real bed. But, after Dragon finishes his story, I find myself looking anxiously through the windows, scanning rooftops, windows, and alleyways for any sign of movement beside the odd rodent or villager searching for survivors. This incident, Brisk and this Tawny, they're all related and part of something big. Now I s

“We are the claw that will bleed the human race. Their blood shall soak the land, allowing us, to thrive, to rebuild.” Her voice is cold, her words held no conviction, no life. All that I could feel in this woman was the same icy lifelessness from her eyes that shone a poisonous green. “And no one, neither faunus or human, will stem this flow.”

I wrench my sword from another Grimm and switch it into a revolver in the same motion and blow away two Beowolves. I do this just in time to jump back from a series of chomps from a Creeper. The unnatural looking beast lunges yet again and

“No one dies!” He shouts, pulling the slide of his last handgun back, a round slamming into the chamber. “Except them, they're fair game!”

Timing has always been one of my strong suits. Now seems to be no exception as I fly through the air, the rain pushing at my back in a hard stream, and catch Corie. “I've got yea’, hag!” I shout over the constant rumbling of gunfire.
Down below the dumb creatures howl in a combination of rage and hunger as I plummet towards them. A few impatient Beowolves begin to tear their way up towards Corie and I, teeth red with the blood

“You'll die.” I state simply to her, watching as the bright glow of her semblance begins to light up the shadow that cloak the woods. I expect her to look at me with tears in her eyes, fearful of what is to come. Instead she looks to me with a casual smirk, as if we were joking around back at our dorm in Beacon.
“It's worth it,” she tells me, blood now trickling from her lips.
Light suddenly flares through the woods, giving the ominous forest an angelic glow. Then, just as suddenly, the light is gone. And so is she.

“No, please! Please, please, please.” My throat is raw from my hysterical voice as I reach out to her with the remnants of my ruined body. ‘She can’t leave, not so soon’.

I’m up before they enter the inn, clutching one of my Fangs as I listen carefully. To their credit the six of them are as quiet as a breath of wind. If they hadn't of spooked some beloved soul in the streets below I'm sure they would've gotten a lot closer before I would have detected them. I quickly rush to the miss’s side, making sure to keep the creaking of the floorboards to a minimum, and nudge her awake

“It’s not a grin.” He pauses and looks to me, his eyes bursting with either wild glee or insanity. “It’s a smile.”

Days later, Smiles and I are riding at a steady pace towards Vacuo. Or, to be more precise, the village of Tao, just outside the borders of Vacuo.
Just over the thick tree line of the forest that surrounds us I can see the sun peaking out, greeting us with the anticipated warmth of spring. With the last of the winter chill from yesterday seeming to have faded away I can't help but be grateful as I remove my h

From the beast’s ruined maw comes a horrid, bone chilling, cackle that will haunt those of us who hear live through its wrath until the day we die. The cackle is long and cold, the sound having more likeness to a scream of sadistic ecstasy than uncontained joy. There is no humor in the noise for, in order for there to be humor, there must be a soul and any soul this creature may have owned is either blacker than evil or long dead.

SHDE - (H)azel
A harsh fall chill clung to the heavy hooded cloak of the young Huntress at the head of a simple caravan of nomadic tribals, a mismatched collection of humans and faunus. The Huntress was young, young enough that most wondered if she was an actual Huntress. She knew of these doubts but brushed them aside as she had many times before. Her pale golden eyes took in every detail of the distant village on the horizon that the caravan now hiked towards.
A collective sigh of relief swept through the caravan at the sight of the village. Weary from their trek through Grimm infested roads and forests they were eager to set up camp and be
